Who are 'The Gilgal Christian Fellowship'?
Our Fellowship began on November 24th 2002, when a small group of Baptist believers came apart from another church and prayerfully made the decision to form a new branch of the Church of Jesus Christ.
We began meeting at St. Thomas’ Chapel of Rest, Cwrt Sart, where the Co-operative Funeral Service allowed us to use their chapel, free of charge, on Sundays. And so for 14 months we had a temporary home.
When the time came for us to move on, we found a disused building , a former vestry building of the Ritson Street English Congregational Church. The people from that church had moved into the vestry when the Church was demolished some years previously, and in recent years they had vacated the existing building. The building was then owned by a local property investor, and from January 2004 until April 2010 we rented the building, having sole use seven days of the week.
Circumstances changed in those years, and we found God was leading us in a different direction. He provided the opening, and the opportunity to move to the other side of the track (quite literally). We had the opportunity to use the Neath & District Sea Cadets’ Building, Regent Street West, on the other side of the railway line.
So we have a new home, a new mission field, and as such a new challenge. But God is good, and we are trusting in Him to lead us into the unknown territory for His glory, in Jesus Christ.
